Together with the team of designers and engineers at MasterLock, our vision sought to evolve MasterLock's iconic DNA through celebrating the underlying craftsmanship with a sleek and modern design that presents an impenetrable, seamless exterior.

Inspired by the heritage of the MasterLock brand, the Elite Series is a testament to refined ruggedness. The design commands attention with its solid presence and robust, flowing chamfers while paying homage to the iconic MasterLock rubber bumper. This visual approach strikes a balance between sophistication and poise, lending confidence in an object meant to protect through each thoroughly crafted line.

The creation of the MasterLock Elite Series is the culmination of collaboration alongside a team of engineers, research studies with a variety of consumers and pros alike, and exhaustive iteration on every detail. Key to the MNML design process was rapid 3D printing ideation, allowing designers and stakeholders the chance to evaluate proportion, scale, and form in realizing a new timeless design.

The solid, all-weather appearance of the Elite Series evokes the undisputed authority of the MasterLock brand of padlocks. The precise hardened steel interior stack is sheathed in rustproof aluminum for seamless weatherproofing. The iconic MasterLock split celebrates the flowing chamfer design while also providing a protective rubber bumper, embodying the bold and confident design language.

MNML's design approach of a seamless meant revising the engineering stack-up strategy and carefully considering how each required mechanical detail could become part of the story of solid confidence. We worked tirelessly alongside engineering to evaluate manufacture constraints and revise design intent to fulfill the teams goal of a timeless and modern padlock.
